Update -- August 2, 2009

Dear Divers, Parents, and Supporters,

Well, summer is over, at least for those of us involved with the Hawaii Public School System :/

And this summer has been a lesson, for me, in what not to do -- teach summer school!  The varying schedule necessitated by my involvement in summer school made it difficult to establish a lessons program, as well as making the workout schedule for the team difficult for many families to adjust to as well.

Plus, my appointment as judge for the World University Games interrupted part of the summer, while my attendance at my cousin's wedding interrupted another part.

It seemed as though various divers' summer school schedules, camp involvements, work schedules, etc., also made the TLDT's summer less productive than one usually expects it to be.

And it appears that only me and BJ will be attending the Maui Invite this coming weekend, which is the final meet of the season.  We will be taking a break to "get back into the swing of school" until Labor Day weekend, to accommodate the start of both public and private schools..  We'll have a Waimea Beach Day on Labor Day to get us back into the spirit and start things back up September 8th.

Hopefully, we all can work together to get things more cohesive and on track for the Fall :)

Keo Nakama Highlights

This meet, a new Future Champions only format, gave us all an opportunity to try out some new dives!  YAY!

Joanna -- debuted her 105B and 303C 3M, giving her entry-level national optionals in all directions.

Linnet -- Worked really hard on her 5223D, but the pressure of the meet got to her on this one...Did a solid 403B, which is poised to become a great dive!

Alena-- debuted her 201B and 301B on 3M, and 203A 3M (she does have a knack for the backs and gainers :)

Cristin  -- debuted MANY dives -- 203B 1M which earned 5+, 303C 1M, with a strong top, 403B 3M, which is looking great already, and 105C 3M, which is her first foray into the "BIG" dives :)

Tate -- did a fantastic 102C and 201A (not new, but still new-ish!)

BJ -- did a kinda nervous 107C (not quite up to his usual practice level, but it will be great!), and a 203B on 1M that already is better than his C!

Coach Jeff -- didn't really do anything NEW, but competed 201C and 301C on both boards and got 7+ on them :)

Upcoming Events

Back to School Break -- August 10-September 6, a chance for everyone to get back into the swing of things before embarking on a great '09-'10 season.

OTHER STUFF

Hopefully, the pool will have the new boards up and running by the time we start back...if they don't, we may have some issues with T-Th workouts at Schofield, so we will have to be flexible and look at M-W there.  Also, I would like to get an idea of availability/commitment days for y'all for workout, so we schedule many fewer workouts that are under-attended.. I will work something up and send it our to you all.

ASL CORNER

Check out the ASL Corner,  do the lessons as you want to, ask me for help as you need.

Okies, That's all for now!

Jeff
