 Update -- July 1, 2007

Dear Divers and Parents,

Welcome to the Summer Season 2007!  There are three local meets planned for this summer, two of them happening this first week of July!  Additionally, there are the AAU National Championships happening later in July in Orlando, FL, for Lance, and the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for our summer guest, Megan.

RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Lance has been learning up a storm in anticipation of going to the AAU National Championships.  He has learned his 5211A both 1M and 3M, his 203C 1M, his 303C 3M, and his 105C 3M.  I am hoping we can get a few more dives to look good by next Sunday (404C 3M, 203B 3M, and 201A and 301A both 1M and 3M) in anticipation of the Nationals.

Jace has come alive with his 402C, 202C and his 103C (which he actually has done on 1M, 3M, and, he told me, 5M!)  He is also working on getting his 301C independently.

Justine is ready to start her 302C and 402C independently this week -- the spots are no longer necessary!  YAY

BJ has overcome a long-standing fear on his 202C 1M and is doing them regularly.  He is doing his 104C 1M regularly now and his beltwork shows that he is about ready for his 203C 1M and 303C 1M as well!

Emily is doing her 401C 1M and 002D 3M with a spot, and has gotten her 101C 1M and 201A 1M independently.

Megan has gotten off four of her five optionals for the first time since her knee injury forced her to take a break after NCAAs in March, including some awesome tops on her 305C and her 5235D!

Coach Jeff has done his 305C and 5235D for the first time in 5 years, although they both need a lot more work!!

UPCOMING MEET INFO

The Keo Nakama Invitational will be held Wednesday, July 4th at the Central Oahu Pool (for directions click here).  There is a coaches meeting from 6:30 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday night, July 3, then an hour of open practice until 8:00 PM (we will also do a trampoline dryland workout from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Schofield).  On Wednesday morning, Practice begins at 7:00 AM, Revisions to sheets are due by 8:00 AM, and Practice ends at 8:30 AM, with the event starting at 9:00 AM

One meter will be first, followed by awards, a practice session, and the three meter event.  It is anticipated that the event will be finished by both events will be finished by 11:00 AM, and an hour-long potluck is scheduled to follow (speak to Jeff for the organizer's phone number if you are interested in participating, which I would like to strongly recommend :)

And anyone who would like to come watch/support, please feel free to come enjoy!

The AAU Hawaiian District Championships will happen on Sunday, July 8 at Schofield, pretty much during our normal workout times.  We will start an open practice at 4:00 PM and have the one meter event at 4:30 PM followed by the 3M event at about 5:15 and the platform event at about 6 PM.  I will have entry forms available for you all on Saturday at practice, and you can also enter on-deck if you so desire :)  No late fees!  It is likely that this will be an "intrasquad" meet, similar to last year, with only divers from our team actually participating.
