Update -- May 25, 2008

Dear Divers, Parents, and Supporters,  

Summer approaches...the Summer Solstice will happen June 20...along the way comes a couple of local meets, the beginning of the "road to Nationals" series, and several trips and vacations on the part of team members...

WORKOUT TIMES CHANGING IN JUNE

Workout times will change as soon as the public schools let out -- starting June 9th and continuing until July 23rd, we will be going from 9 AM to 11 AM at Schofield every weekday morning, and will catch afternoons at Kaiser when we can (given the Parks and Rec Department's scheduled use of the pool).

UPCOMING MEETS

First up is next Saturday's (May 31st) HDA Championships at UH.  Everyone should have gotten entry forms at one of last week's workouts.  The forms were due postmarked by yesterday, or can be hand-delivered to the Rossing/Brown family on Tuesday (I can provide courier service, and will collect any forms that have yet to be mailed from y'all at either tomorrow's or Tuesday's workouts).

Hopefully, we will see a HUGE team turnout for this event, as it is the last one for some of our members before they move out of the state, and it's the only one for a while that everyone will be in town to attend.

Next on the agenda, competition-wise, is the Region 10 Championships in Santa Clara, CA, June 20-22.  I have gotten confirmation from one family, and have had interest from another, about attending this meet.  I will check with those families and we will make travel arrangements by the end of this week.

The Saturday after the Regional Championships sees the Aloha State Games at UH (June 28th).  Information should be coming soon from the organizers, but I do know this -- it will start no earlier than noon.

Sports Basics plans to host the Keo Nakama on Sunday, June 29th as well.  I will give you more information about this meet as it comes to me.

RECENT SUCCESSES

Tate has learned her 401C and 201A, and braved 5M for some 100s.  Emily has gotten all her 100s and 200s on 5M and is doing 102C 1M.  Roberto just learned 101A.  Victor has 101C and is starting 201A now.

Linnet has learned 302C 3M, 202A 3M, and 403C 1M.  Alena has gotten her 301C independently and learned 103B.  Amanda has learned 5221D and is getting more independent on her 201C 3M.  Samantha has learned that 101B and 401B 3M are not as tough as she thinks they are, and is about to learn her 301C independently.  Joanna is back in the water and has gotten all her dives back, and has been playing with 204C 3M.  Ashley has likewise gotten her competitive Junior lists back and has been succeeding with new twisters.  BJ has returned from his month off and is getting himself back into the swing of things again.  Coach Jeff has done his 203B 5M for the first time in 6-7 years and plans to compete it at next Saturday's HDA Championships.
