Update -- December 6, 2009

Dear Divers, Parents, and Supporters,

High School Season is officially underway!  We ended the 2009 club season with the Sunshine Invite on November 22, at which TLDT divers were AWESOME.  Unfortunately, one of our members, BJ, couldn't participate due to his too-close relationship with the 3M board on the Friday before the meet (his three stitches have been removed and he's on the way back, having done 1M vols and three optionals already :).  Just this weekend, Ashley participated in the ILH (private schools) Pre-Season meet. Highlights of these events, the current workout schedule for December, and the competition schedule for the ILH and OIA (public schools) diving seasons are below:

Sunshine Invite Highlights

Shaylin -- won her uncontested 1M event, and her very hotly contested 3M event with very consistent diving, and the best 001B and 002A she's yet done!.

Joanna-- dominated the 16-18 girls 3M event with an incredibly solid list including optionals for mostly 7s, and only one dive earning less than 6s -- her ongoing problem category: her headfirst twister :(  Her 303C was Uh-May-Zing (and made me jealous that mine's not as good ;).  One 1M, she debuted a new twister, 5223D.

Linnet-- debuted her 404C 3M for 6-7s  (YAY for new dives going well :) nailed her 301B 1M for 6.5-7.5s  (WOW!);  also hit all her 1M options for 6s and better, including the best 104C she's ever competed. Now she's gotta work up that DD so she can capitalize on her great form!

Alena-- absolutely owned her 403Cs both boards, and did a 5211A 3M with nice form.  She also did her best-ever 5122D 1M, and her best-ever 1M list so far as well (YAY)  Now it's time to step it up to 104C, 203C, 303C 1M and 303C, 5231D, and 203A 3M :)

Cristin-- Had a really great list going on on 1M, showing of great correctrions on her 103B (chin up on takeoff for 6-7s), 301B (holding lines for 5.5-6.5s), 104C (stood up and kicked out for 5.5-6s), 403C (chin up on takeoff for 5-5.5s), and especially 203C (held her lines for 5-6s) before a traumatic 303C claimed several neurons along her calves, thighs, and back.

Ashley-- showed great consistency on 3M, and hit her optionals wonderfully -- 105C for 6-7s, 404c for 6.5s, and her arch-nemesis 303C for 5.5-6.5s.  On 1M, she debuted three new dives -- 5122D, 203B, and 5223D, and did all of then for 5s and better.  She earned PBs on both boards, and set herself up strobgly for the HS season :)

Maria-- temporary TLDT diver during HS season, MAria has had a great three weeks of training, which really paid off in this meet.  She competed only 1M, but earned at least one 7 on 6 of her 9 dives and received nothing less than 6s.  Scores like this would earn her a spot at Nationals, and would definitely put her in a strong position to win the HS state championships this year.

Coach Jeff -- BARELY took 3M over rival Bill Sutton of Maui Diving had a most impressive list...his entries were the most impressive aspect of his 3M (and his ability to come back on his last dive).  On 1M, earned 8s on three dives (401A, 403B, and, surprisingly, 5132D).  Got a great top on his 5134D as well, and did his first all 6+ 203B in many years (um, like, 1996 or so...)

ILH Pre-Season Invite

Ashley-- sole competitor in the Varsity Girls event, she took the opportunity to take some risks --  she tried some "fun" dives (101A, 6.5s, and 401A 5-5.5s), and debuted her 5132D for 4-4.5s.  She got a solid top on her 303C and did one of the best 203Bs she's ever done.  She is showing great mastery over her 403B, and when we gat the solid legs and toes, she'll add about 30 points to her score :)
