Update -- November 1, 2009
Dear Divers, Parents, and
Supporters,
Trick or Treat Invite Highlights
Shaylin -- did some amazingly solid skills, particularly on her 200A on 3M for 7s and 200C platform for 6.5s, and the best 301C and 102C 1M I've seen her do.
Tate -- did the best 201A she has in a while on 1M, and hit her favorite dive (102C 1M), and showed good form and control on her 002A 3M.
Gabe-- really showed his lines and controled transitions in and out of hispositions on his 200A and C 1M and 100C 3M for 6s, and showed proper entry technique on his 001B 3M as well.
Lindsay-- did an AMAZING 200A 1M that was so high and controlled that she earned 7s from one of the judges -- not something often seen from beginning divers. She also did some of the better 101Cs and 401Cs 1M and 001Bs 3M she's ever done, which was nice to see during a competitive situation.
Hannah-- seems to be more of a "diver" than a "jumper," as she scored more highly on her headfirst entries than her feet first ones. LOVED the smooth 101C and 401C on 1M, and her rip entry on her 001B 3M earned solid a 7.5 from Swedish Olympian and Sunshine Diving Coach Anita Rossing!
Joanna-- continued to move toward national level status, breaking 300 for the first time on 3M and 210 on platform (if she had done that at this past summer's Zones, she'd have qualified for the age group nationals), and 270 for the first time on 1M (same situation as above, but would have qualified for the more elite junior nationals). Debuted her 403B 1M and did her best-yet 203C for 6-6.5s. nailed her 3M optionals as well for all 6+.
Linnet-- showed her stuff on her 401B and 103B for 7s and improved her 403B greatly, having straight legs throughout and earning 5-5.5s. Stood up her 201B wonderfully on 1M, and did one of her better 403Cs 1M for 6s. Learned a hard lesson about listening to the announcer on her 5122D, which she expected to be a 302C :( Proved again that she is a platform diver with an incredibly solid list on 5M, including a well-stood up 201C and her debut 612B.
Alena-- did the two best competitive lists she has ever done! 3M was very solid, with all but two judges' awards being 6s and higher. Her hard work on her reverses really paid off, and her newly learned 103B was one of her best dives. Her hurdle work and form through entries was the best I've ever seen from her as well. I hope to see such work continue :)
Cristin-- proved herself a trooper by competing 3M despite not having dived up there since July, and showed off great lines on her 201B and 301B. She also did her first-ever 5231D 3M twisting in her new direction, having switched over this fall based on her front twisting and multiple back twisting experiences. one 1M, she debuted her 5223D, and showed a great deal of improvement on her other optional dives.
Ashley-- owned her inwards -- she earned at least one 7 on 5/6 of her inward actions, including her newly-re-learned 403B 1M, which netted her her highest single-dive score ever,, 49.20. Also threw her first 303C 1M in a year and a half, and landed it well for 5-5.5s. She also competed her best-yet 3M 203B for 5.5s, and, like Linnet, proved herself a major platform talent with her solid 5M list.
Brandon-- impressed the MOST with his just-learned (on Friday) 5134D 3M for 6s. His twisters in general have shown amazing improvement in technique and form. He also changed positions on his back and reverse dives and looks WAY more controlled and smoother, and gets in the water cleaner with them. His gainer spinners also impressed on both 1M and 3M. He also competed his first-ever junior event on platform.
Coach Jeff -- wore many hats this Saturday as he coached, announced, referreed, and dived all at the same time. Due to his many jobs, he elected to try something weird this time out, and dived "cold," meaning NO warmups whatsoever. He did this partially as an ego-saving move in case his arch-rival beat him. Luckily (especially in the first event), he prevailed, and as the day progressed, did some nice dives (5134D 3M, 113B 1M, and 401B 5M for at least one 7.5 each),Upcoming Events
