Update -- January 15, 2008

Dear Divers, Parents, and Supporters,

OK, we are having some registration issues with USA Diving.  There site is down, but the membership renewal site is still up:
https://webpoint.usadiving.org/wp15/IntraLock/Login.asp?targetPath=/wp/memberships/join.asp

I have only seen a few of our athletes fully registered, so please get on this!  No one who is NOT registered is allowed in the water until they do get registered!  Remember also that you MUST complete and fax in the downloadable Athlete Waiver Form (Waiver Form) to complete your registration!

AGAIN, BE PREPARED FOR HEAVY DRYLAND OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS!!!

Please come to workout with shoes and loose-fitting/exercise clothes for dryland!!  Those who come ill-prepared will do reading work about diving and NOT participate in skill activities.

IN CASE THIS HAS NOT YET BEEN DRIVEN HOME, VERY IMPORTANT!!!! USA Diving Registration

Remember, it is time to register (or )re-register for USA Diving, if you have not already.  Unfortunately, USA Diving's website shows only three currently registered members -- me, Tate, and Samantha.  Two more, BJ and Ashley, are "pending" because they have not sent in the waivers (electronic waivers are not accepted for minors).

Also remember that there are now the  "Competitive Blue" and "Competitive Gold" membership categories.  Here's a link to let you read more about them:  usadiving.org news.  Please register as a Competitive Blue or Competitive Gold athlete for 2008 ASAP (including faxing in the required waiver) -- you will not be allowed to dive in the 2008 season until you do.   Remember, the Competitive Blue price is only $20 for the whole year, and allows you to compete on the Junior level in Invitationals and Association meets!  Competitive Gold price is $75 and allows you to compete on the Regional, Zone, and National level to which you qualify.  So please get on this right away!  New members to the club who have not yet done so also need to register to be covered by insurance, so please review the instructions on "How to Join USA Diving" and get to this right away!

I WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO ATTEND PRACTICE AFTER JANUARY 13 WHOSE NAME DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE USADIVING MEMBERS LIST ON WWW.USADIVING.ORG!!!

January 12 Meet Highlights

Congratulations to Ashley and Khoral for another pair of fine performances this weekend.

Ashley won the JV event, dominating the field and scoring 20 points more than 2nd place.  She debuted her 301A as well, and gave us a base to build on.  She also NAILED her 103B for 7s, really riding the board HIGH and stretching through a great entry.  In her Varsity exhibition, she earned a Personal Best, breaking 300 for the first time!  She has two more new dives she will debut this weekend (403B and 203C), and might even through in a 5121D and/or 5221D for good measure...

Khoral also debuted a new dive -- her 202C -- en route to her bronze medal performance.  In addition, she had beautiful form on her 5211A, which earned all 5s from the judges.  She learned 402C yesterday, and so might also be set to throw some new dives at this weekend's meet.

Thank you to Linnet, Joanna, Alena, and BJ for coming out and supporting their teammates at Kamehameha Schools last weekend.  Those interested in the upcoming meet are welcome to come to Iolani School at 1 PM on Saturday.

For the most up-to-date High School Season Info, please see the High School Diving Section.

TLDT 2008 Competitive Schedule

We plan to attend the Spring Region 9 Championships in Scottsdale, AZ, April 5-6 and those who finish in the top 6 in any event will attend the West Championships in Columbia MO, April 25-27.  There is also an earlier Regional Meet in Portland Oregon, which, costs considered, might be better for us, if we can get our dives down pat...I'll look at the pricing.  In the meanwhile, I have gotten goal sheets from Ashley, Linnet, and Joanna stating that Regionals is a goal for them, and a verbal (signed) statement from BJ about the same...so, let's get ready to try to rock the dives for the Spring Season.  I will do some flight/hotel research and update you all next week.

We will attend the Summer Regionals in either  Tucson, AZ on June 13-15 or Santa Clara, CA, June 20-22 (depends on affordability and how we are feeling with school having just gotten out :)  Those who place in the top 15 will move on the the Zone Championships in Los Angeles, CA, July 10-13 and those who place in the top 12 at the Zones will move on to Nationals in Rockville, MD, August 12-15.

For a look at the complete schedule for 2008, please see the HDA Calendar of Events.

Oh, and by the way, in order to be eligible to go to the Regional level, TLDT Divers must have a complete Junior List in the events they plan to compete.  For the 12-13, 14-15, and 16-18 age groups, this includes doing optional dives that have an average degree of difficulty of 2.0 or higher, which basically translates to front doubles, 1 1/2s in every other direction, and twisters with at least 1 1/2 somersaults or 1 1/2 twists.  So, if you are interested in getting to this level, let's take advantage of all the trampoline and dryland work we will do over the next few months to get us ready!
