Interscholastic Diving Rules
Intermediate (Grades 7-8, ILH only at the moment):
6 skills/dives -- 100A/B/C, 200A/B/C, any four dives from three different groups.
Junior Varsity (Grades 9-11 ILH, Grades 9-10 OIA):
6 dives -- One VColuntary (picked on a rotating basis throughout the season from groups 100, 200, 300, 400, and 5000) and 5 optionals ( must cover four groups); in the OIA, every group must be covered in the list.
Varsity (Grades 9-12):
11 dives -- 5 voluntaries covering all groups and six optionals covering all groups with one group repeated. The format is somewhat complex: In the first five dives, divers must do 2 voluntaries and 3 optionals; in the next three, divers must do 2 voluntaries and one optional, but by the end of the eighth dive, all five groups MUST be performed, and you may not repeat any groups for these optionals; in the final three dives, divers must do one voluntary and two optionals, one of which MUST be the repeated group. It becomes much easier over time :)
